At the end of September, European cultural heritage days will take place throughout Latvia. This year they are dedicated to building culture. The Kuldīga Restoration Center will open its doors on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, during the Kuldīga European Cultural Heritage Days.
As the National Cultural Heritage Administration informs, "this year's European Cultural Heritage Days unite more than 30 objects, which are not united by any typological or functional feature, but by a special assessment of their creation, maintenance and full life. These are good role models, getting to know them helps to build and train the understanding of each member of society about what we want to see around us. Examples of building culture chosen by experts provide inspiration on how to preserve and build. From September 25 to 27, part of this year's objects will open their doors to visitors so that they can get to know and explore them in person."
On September 25 and 26, from 12:00 to 16:00, at the Kuldīga Restoration Center's open day event, you will be able to get to know the progress of the window caulking and metal parts strengthening process, participate in the construction of a mini Kuldīga for the youngest participants, painting and creating the facades of the Kuldīga houses, as well as participate in the UNESCO city game "Restoration In the environment of the old town of Kuldīga", where you can learn about the objects restored in the last ten years.
On Saturday, September 26, at 4:00 p.m., restorer Jānis Mertens invites you to the lecture "The most typical mistakes and their prevention in the restoration of wooden carpentry elements".
